In an official statement, the Force Public Relations Officer assured a thorough investigation into the matter. While cautioning against speculation, the statement urged individuals with pertinent information to cooperate with the authorities. Additionally, it emphasized refraining from actions that could hinder the ongoing investigation.
In light of the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s passing, the Elegushi Royal Family of Eti-Osa, Lagos State, made it clear that Samson Erinfolami Balogun (aka Sam Larry) is not associated with their family. They urged a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of Mohbad’s death to determine if foul play was involved.
A petition dated June 27, 2023, by the late singer had previously outlined alleged threats, malicious damage, assault, and oppression against Sam Larry and others. The petition called for protection from the Nigeria Police Force.
Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, revealed that he lived in constant fear and wanted to leave the country for their safety. She dispelled rumors of mental health issues and expressed her grief at becoming a widow at 24.
The passing of Mohbad, a prominent figure in Nigerian music, has left a void in the industry. His music resonated with many, and he was recognized for his distinctive style and lyrical prowess. His impact on the street-pop genre was significant, and he aspired to share his message of light with the world.
Despite the untimely loss, Mohbad’s music and legacy will continue to be celebrated by fans and the music community at large. The investigation by the Nigerian Police Force aims to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
