Wike Fires Back At Kinigbe: ‘You Cannot Intimidate Me, I Was A Minister Before Becoming Governor’

Addressing a select group of journalists in Abuja, Wike made it clear that he harbors no desire for friendship with Kinigbe, accusing her of resorting to blackmail instead of addressing grievances through proper channels.
The minister urged Kinigbe to focus on her legislative oversight responsibilities rather than seeking personal alliances. He suggested that her dissatisfaction stemmed from being overlooked for the position of Chairman of the Senate Committee on FCT, allegedly due to Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s decision.
Asserting his own authority, Wike challenged Kinigbe’s attempts to influence him, emphasizing his extensive political experience as both a former Minister and Governor. He dismissed her tactics of public criticism via media platforms like Channels TV and TVC, asserting that such methods hold no sway over him.
Wike emphasized his commitment to maintaining loyalty to his associates, including his friend Philip Aduda, despite any political disagreements. He rejected the notion that Kinigbe’s electoral defeat should dictate his personal relationships, reaffirming his determination to uphold his principles and independence in the face of pressure.
The exchange highlights the ongoing tensions between Wike and Kinigbe, underscoring the complex dynamics of political relationships within Nigeria’s corridors of power.
