Wike Allegedly Puts Damagum Under Lock And Key—Rep Ugochinyere Speaks Out!

Rep Imo Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives for Ideato North and South in Imo State, has claimed that the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, is under the political control of Nyesom Wike.

Ugochinyere, a prominent PDP member, accused the former Rivers State governor of orchestrating the ongoing crisis within the state. He criticized Damagum for failing to address the situation, asserting that if Damagum were serious, he would have taken action against Wike, who is currently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a statement issued on Thursday, Ugochinyere, who is also the spokesman for the Opposition Coalition, stated that Damagum seems indifferent to the political turmoil in Rivers State. He claimed that the PDP’s leadership silence has allowed Wike’s influence to grow unchecked.

“The PDP is struggling to survive the grip of a mere political errand boy serving an APC agent. PDP leaders must stand up to the APC infiltrators in our ranks,” Ugochinyere said.

He also pointed out that pro-Wike elements within the PDP are undermining the party’s involvement in the Rivers State elections while Damagum remains silent. Ugochinyere called Damagum an “APC-backed imposter” who is not standing up for the party’s interests.

“Damagum is silent because his masters, the pro-Wike faction, have him under their control. Even if Rivers sinks politically, as long as it benefits Wike’s faction, he doesn’t care. But no matter what, we are not afraid,” Ugochinyere added.

In a post on his X account, Ugochinyere urged the PDP to stop tolerating Wike’s faction and to take decisive action. He suggested calling for an emergency meeting to expel these individuals from the party, assuring that nothing significant would come of it, and the party could handle any legal battles that arise.
