The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has narrated how one of his project coordinators endured countless sleepless nights to ensure the timely delivery of key road projects in Abuja.

Speaking on Wednesday during the commissioning of the dualized and upgraded Ushafa to War College/Army Checkpoint Roads and other ancillary roads in Bwari Area Council, Wike said he deliberately pressured the coordinator to guarantee results.

“Mr President, the Coordinator of STP is a young man and I pity him. I never allowed him to sleep for one day. I told him, you were not nominated just to come and ‘chop,’ you must work hard so those who recommended you won’t be embarrassed,” Wike stated.

The minister praised the coordinator’s resilience and performance, describing him as someone who proved his capability beyond expectations.
“There are people you give positions, and they think it’s just for publicity. But this young man has shown real capacity. Trust me, he will deliver,” Wike added.

He jokingly apologized to the coordinator’s wife, saying: “If he has a wife, I really pity her because I made sure he had so many sleepless nights. But it’s all for a good cause.”

Wike also thanked the Vice President for his encouragement and support, emphasizing that the projects were a testament to the administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure in the FCT.
