Wired For Success: Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi’s 132kV Double Circuit Transmission Line Plea Receives Nationwide Praise(Video)
In a stirring session at the House of Representatives, Honorable Nnamdi Ezechi, the distinguished representative of Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, has emerged as a beacon of hope for his constituents and garnered nationwide praise for his impassioned plea to catalyze electrification in the region.
In an extraordinary display of proficiency on the House floor, Hon. Ezechi articulated the pressing need for Federal Government intervention and funding to expedite the construction of a vital 132kV Double Circuit transmission line and associated substations, a project that promises to bring much-needed electricity to the long-deprived communities of Ndokwa/Ukwuani.
Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency is no stranger to the energy crisis, even as it plays host to the 960 megawatts Okpai Independent Power Plant, a cornerstone of the nation’s power distribution system. Yet, the same communities that house this significant asset have languished in perpetual darkness, their businesses shuttered, and residents left to navigate life without electricity.
In his moving speech to the House, Hon. Ezechi emphasised the terrible hardships endured by his constituents as a result of the lack of electricity, emphasising the enormous losses suffered by these communities.
As day turns to night, darkness cloaks homes and enterprises, with even basic illumination remaining an elusive luxury. The consequences are stark—business closures, livelihoods in tatters, and exorbitant generator costs bleeding the life out of the community.
Here are some grateful replies to his motion, which is presently being debated in Delta State.
Jane (Resident of Ndokwa/Ukwuani): “Finally, someone is addressing our longstanding electricity woes. Hon. Ezechi’s motion is a ray of hope for us, and we appreciate his efforts to improve our lives through this project.”
Emeka (Local Business Owner): “The absence of reliable electricity has crippled our businesses and affected our daily lives. Hon. Ezechi’s call for this transmission line is a game-changer that we’ve been waiting for.”
Funmi (Concerned Citizen): “It’s heartening to see a young politician like Hon. Ezechi taking proactive steps to address critical issues in our community. This is the kind of leadership we need.”
Ahmed (Community Leader): “Electrification is not just about convenience; it’s about economic development. Hon. Ezechi’s dedication to improving our lives deserves commendation.”
Hon. Ezechi’s impassioned plea was not in vain, as he beseeched the House to compel the Federal Government, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), and the Federal Ministry of Power to allocate the requisite funds for the “The Okpai-Kwale Transmission Line Project” and its associated substations. This intervention is seen as the lifeline urgently required to rejuvenate this vital project and alleviate the suffering of Ndokwa/Ukwuani’s residents.
Moreover, Hon. Ezechi appealed to the House to empower the House Committee on Power to oversee and closely monitor the electrification project. Their mandate includes ensuring timely compliance by all stakeholders and providing regular updates to the House of Representatives on the Okpai-Kwale Transmission Line’s progress, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the project’s implementation.
Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi’s tenacious lobbying has catapulted him into the political spotlight, with many hailing him as a rising star on the political arena. His passion to his constituents and his unflinching pursuit of revolutionary change have not only gained him respect, but have also sparked optimism in the hearts of those he serves, making him a light of hope for the nation.
