Woman Seeking Divorce Accuses Husband Of Tricking Her Into Unfruitful Marriage

Olaniyan, a trader, expressed her grievance that despite receiving the customary bride price and other necessary items from her husband, Michael failed to disclose that he had a child from a previous marriage before their union.

“After exchanging marital vows with Michael in August 2019, I discovered that he had fertility issues.

“I have waited patiently for a change in our circumstances, but unfortunately, the situation has not improved.

“What’s more, Michael had a child from another woman before marrying me, but he never disclosed this to me.

“My lord, I have lost trust in him, and I cannot continue living with this deception. I have waited long enough,” lamented Olaniyan.

However, Michael did not appear in court when summoned to present his side of the matter.

The bailiff explained that despite serving him with hearing notices on multiple occasions, he chose not to attend the proceedings.

In her judgment, the court’s President, Mrs. S.M. Akintayo, affirmed that there was a valid customary marriage between Olaniyan and Michael, based on the evidence provided by the petitioner.

Consequently, Akintayo granted the dissolution of the marriage since Olaniyan expressed her disinterest in continuing the relationship.

She also issued an order restraining the respondent from harassing, threatening, or interfering in the personal life of the petitioner henceforth.
