Yul Edochie Breaks Silence On AMVCA Snub, Declares “My Worth Is Determined By God

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has stated that he does not require recognition from the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards to validate his talent and contribution to the movie industry.

Speaking during a recent appearance on the Honest Bunch podcast, the actor addressed conversations surrounding his absence from the list of AMVCA winners and nominees. According to reports, Edochie maintained that awards decided by a select group of individuals cannot determine his value or standing in Nollywood.

The actor expressed strong confidence in his abilities, insisting that some of the performances he delivered several years ago remain unmatched by many actors in the industry today. He described himself as one of the finest actors in Nollywood, noting that he refrains from calling himself the greatest out of respect for his father, veteran actor Pete Edochie.

Edochie further clarified that he holds no resentment towards the organisers of the AMVCA and is unbothered by their decisions regarding nominations and awards. He noted that he has never taken to social media to complain about being overlooked because he does not place his self-worth on award recognition.

According to him, his primary focus remains delivering outstanding performances whenever he is given a movie role. He added that he is committed to constantly improving himself while leaving viewers and critics to judge his work.

The actor also stressed that public opinions or personal sentiments towards him do not influence his mindset, as he remains focused on growth and maintaining a strong connection with his global fan base.

Speaking on the matter, Edochie said his worth is determined by God, the effort he puts into his craft, and the appreciation he receives from audiences worldwide rather than by award institutions.
