The operation, named “Operation Zero Tolerance,” spanned from December 15, 2023, to January 15, 2024, aiming to enhance road safety and curb traffic-related incidents.

Mr. Muta’a Chorrie, the Sector Commander, highlighted that the primary causes of accidents during the operation were non-compliance with seat belt usage, distracted driving due to phone usage, and overspeeding.

Acknowledging the success of the end-of-year special patrol, Chorrie announced the commencement of another special patrol operation in 2024, named “Operation Falcon Speed Mobile Control.”

The upcoming operation aims not only to address mobile phone-related violations but also to minimize road traffic crashes across the six area councils. The FRSC has equipped its officers with raider guns and additional operational logistics to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in 2024.

Chorrie emphasized the importance of intensive sensitization efforts, stating that the FRSC would engage with the community through churches, mosques, and schools to promote a driving culture and educate road users on effective traffic management.

The FRSC plans to visit churches on Sundays, mosques on Fridays, and various public and private schools to impart crucial road safety knowledge.

Appealing to motorists, especially commercial drivers, the sector commander urged strict adherence to traffic rules, fostering cooperation with the FRSC. This collaborative effort, he believes, will not only contribute to a reduction in road accidents but also safeguard lives and properties in the FCT.
