The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunboh Wahab, announced the enforcement action through his official X handle. Wahab stated that the driver has already been arraigned and remanded by the magistrate, awaiting sentencing on Tuesday, February 6.

Furthermore, the truck owner is set to face criminal prosecution in accordance with the Lagos State Environmental Management Protection Law 2017. The arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, February 6, 2024, reflecting the government’s commitment to upholding environmental standards and protecting the community from pollution.

“A sewage evacuation truck was impounded on Friday, and the driver arrested by the LSWMO operatives for discharging faeces in the drainage and polluting the environment in Amuwo Odofin Housing Estate, Mile 2,” Wahab stated, emphasizing the government’s determination to hold individuals and entities accountable for environmental offenses.
