The 40-year-old has been in custody for over a year after the scandal emerged in December 2022. Despite initially denying any involvement with the victim, Alves later admitted to consensual intercourse.

The trial, which could lead to a 12-year prison sentence if he is found guilty, is set to conclude on February 7.

The footballer, renowned for his achievements with FC Barcelona and PSG, was released by Pumas UNAM in January 2023 amid the ongoing legal battle.
