In response to the recent wave of attacks in Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas, resulting in over 200 casualties and widespread destruction, Tinubu has sanctioned the creation of a strategic military presence in the state.

The proposed barracks, situated in Miller Farm (Gada Biyu) within the Mbar District of Bokkos Local Government Area, aims to bolster security efforts under the coordination of Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa.

Once operational, the military base will spearhead interventions to quell the recurring assaults and bloodshed in Bokkos, Mangu, Riyom, Barkin Ladi, and neighboring Nasarawa state.

This proactive measure follows the harrowing events of Christmas Eve 2023, marked by coordinated attacks, rampant looting, and loss of life, underscoring the urgent need for fortified security infrastructure in the region.

Former Plateau State Governor, Joshua Dariye, had previously advocated for the establishment of the barracks to stem the tide of violence and safeguard the lives and properties of residents.
