In his view, the label “Afrobeats” has become a refuge for those lacking genuine talent.

“When questioned about the definition of Afrobeats, I would assert that Afrobeats serves as a mask for many individuals lacking talent,” Ruggedman stated frankly during an interview with Chude Jideonwo.

“They proclaim, ‘Afrobeats to the world.’ My response is, ‘No. It’s a few artists to the world.’ It doesn’t represent the entire Afrobeats genre; it’s just a select few artists.”

Furthermore, he disclosed feeling disheartened when confronted with comments on social media suggesting that his time as an artist has elapsed, but he remains steadfast, affirming, “Regardless of what anyone says, whoever they may be listening to at the moment is influenced by my work.”
