In a recent incident, soldiers resorted to opening fire on suspected hoodlums who hijacked trailers carrying foodstuff in the Suleja Area of Niger State. The situation escalated as the hoodlums blocked trailers traveling from Abuja to Kaduna, setting roadblocks and looting bags of assorted food items, particularly rice.
Eyewitnesses reported that despite the intervention of soldiers, the looters persisted, showing a brazen disregard for authority.
Expressing his dismay over the incident, Showunmi took to social media to denounce the government’s handling of the country’s economic challenges. He criticized what he perceived as arrogance, incompetence, and weakness among those in leadership positions.
In a poignant message, Showunmi highlighted the gravity of the situation, warning that Nigeria is “playing with fire” as various socio-economic issues converge, creating a potentially dangerous environment.
He emphasized the need for effective governance and stronger leadership to address the root causes of such incidents and prevent further escalation of civil unrest.
Showunmi’s remarks underscore the growing concerns about the state of governance and security in Nigeria, urging for urgent and decisive action to avert further crises.
