Why The Injustice Done To Dennis Idahosa Is An Injustice To Every Edo indigene-Edo Grassroots Initiative

For months we watched as a young man came into the contest for the seat of the governor of Edo state.

Initially it looked like he was coming in to get the title ‘one-time gubernatorial aspirant’ like most other people do.

But this view quicky changed when we saw him fight tooth and nail for the support of his party members.

Soon everyone realized that people who just want have the “one-time gubernatorial candidate” title don’t fight that much. At this junction, he started to get peoples attention including yours truly.

With this attention came scrutiny.

His humility and accessibility were the first traits that caught my attention.

DENCO like rt honorable Dennis Idahosa’s is loving called by his many admirers exudes humility.

But again, every politician is humble during election season. However, one thing that cannot lie is long term track record.  

As a two-time member of the house of representatives, he has a track record that could be checked out and it turned out that even while he was in office the average market woman in his constituency had access to him. Clearly, he is not the regular big man politician.

Future investigations reveled that this young man in his early 40’s fulfilled every promise he made to his people during his campaign to become their representative in the federal house of representative.

Now read that line again and imagine what Edo state will look like today if all our previous governors fulfilled every promise they made during their various campaigns.

As all these possibilities started to become obvious to the true Edo people who are currently feeling the pain of having a leader that doesn’t care about them, a sense of hope and possibility started to rise.

Could it be that we will have a candidate in one of the major parties who cares?

Could I be that we will have an option we believe in?

Hope grew more especially as videos of the APC primaries of 17th of February were been shared of social media and video evidence of him leading was everywhere.

Then came the announcement of his victory and he threw his gate open for everyone from all walks of life to come and celebrate with him. This singular act melted the hearts of an entire state and two resounding messages where passed.

To the young it told that our time has come, the future we have been talking about is HERE. 

To everyone else the message was, finally we have a leader that is one of us. 

Then came the announcement that the primaries were canceled.

To me that’s ok, if a party believes her rules were broken, she has a right to conduct another primary, an election again like the first one was not a selection.

Again, video evidence came out to show the elections and DENCO winning again!

To the shock of everyone, it took the committee a longer time to announce a gubernatorial primaries election result than it took to announce a presidential election result.

When it results came in, it was like film trick.

Wards where elections were captured on video and results announced on video had different results. Wow!

How can a group of people just override the wish of the people so easily?

How dare they? 

The leadership of APC has a case to answer, the chairman of the committee set up who is the current governor of cross rivers state has blood of broken hearts in his hand and they are crying for justice!

If you take away a people’s right to choose their leader you are taking away their personal worth and integrity. THIS INJUSTICE MUST NOT STAND!

This is not an injustice to DENCO, THIS IS AN INJUSTICE TO EVERYEDO INDIGENE.
