President Tinubu, who serves as the African Union (AU) Champion for Human Resources for Health and Community Health Delivery Partnership, approved the siting of the Centre in Abuja. This decision underscores Nigeria’s commitment to regional and global health security and aligns with Tinubu’s broader vision to promote local economic opportunities in the healthcare delivery sector.

According to Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, the establishment of the RCC will significantly enhance Nigeria’s and West Africa’s collective capacity to respond promptly to outbreaks, a crucial aspect of ensuring the overall well-being and stability of the African continent.

Moreover, the Centre is expected to yield substantial socio-economic benefits by boosting aggregate national productivity and reversing human capacity drain. It will also empower indigenous medical professionals and scientists to effectively address both existing and emerging diseases, not only within Nigeria but across the continent.
