Global Citizen Now Returns To New York In May With Kagame And Other World Leaders

Among the political leaders co-chairing this year’s summit are Mokgweetsi Masisi, President of Botswana; Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda; Philip Davis, Prime Minister of the Bahamas; Stefan Löfven, Former Prime Minister of Sweden; and Erna Solberg, Former Prime Minister of Norway.

The summit, hosted by Global Citizen, will focus on urgent action to achieve a world where everyone’s basic needs are met, including access to food, energy, healthcare, and education. It will advocate for the preservation of the planet by promoting increased climate financing and the phasing out of fossil fuels. Additionally, the summit aims to drive towards economic development, access to finance, innovation, and job creation to ensure prosperity for every person and country.

Global Citizen NOW’s co-chairs also include well-known supporters of the organization such as Anitta, Danai Gurira, Hugh Jackman, Dakota Johnson, and Michelle Yeoh.

The event will bring together leaders from various sectors including public policy, media, entertainment, philanthropy, advocacy, and the private sector. They will engage in discussions and take action to address pressing global issues and work towards a more equitable future.

The summit will feature the Global Citizen Prize 2024 award ceremony, honoring individuals making significant impacts in gender equity, civic space, climate change, food and nutrition, health and vaccines, and technology innovation. Winners will be announced in April.
