Isiaka outlined that the necessary funds for the effective implementation of the Student Loan program would be derived from one percent of all revenues entering the Federation Account.

He assured Nigerians of the government’s dedication to providing ample funding for the scheme, which is intended to benefit students enrolled in public-owned tertiary institutions across the country.

President Tinubu recently signed the Student Loan Act Amendment Bill into law, paving the way for the seamless commencement of the program.

Prior to this, adjustments were made to the existing law to address identified anomalies, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing the student loan system and ensuring its effectiveness.

Isiaka emphasized that the amendments to the previous Student Loan Act were aimed at simplifying the loan acquisition process for Nigerian students.

He stated, “The patriotism and determination to ensure the sustainable success of this initiative led the Executive and, particularly, Mr. President to propose significant amendments, which have now become law. These amendments have addressed various shortcomings in the 2023 law, particularly in the area of funding.”

“With the establishment of the Nigerian Education Trust Fund (TETFund), we now have a robust, sustainable institution comparable to similar entities worldwide, which will contribute significantly to the program.”

“In conclusion, I am confident that the Nigerian government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has made significant strides in enhancing the Nigerian educational sector.”
