Deadly Collision: Truck Hits Pedestrians, Resulting In One Fatality And Two Injured In Anambra
Tragedy struck as a truck collided with pedestrians along the Onitsha-Asaba bridgehead on Thursday, resulting in the death of an unidentified female and injuring two others. C. A Iyiegbuniwe, the Staff Officer of Public Education at the Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra, confirmed the crash, stating that the victims were transported to the hospital, while the deceased woman was taken to Toronto Mortuary.
Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, the Sector Commander RS5.3 Awka, extended condolences to the families of the victims and emphasized the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and adherence to traffic regulations.
Iyiegbuniwe provided details, stating, “The crash occurred today, April 4, 2024, at about 3:20hrs along Onitsha-Asaba Bridgehead. It involved an articulated white and green Mercedes Benz vehicle with registration number NKE25LG. The vehicle experienced brake failure, leading to the collision with pedestrians. Two individuals sustained injuries while one female lost her life. FRSC personnel promptly transported the injured to Toronto Hospital, Onitsha, while the deceased was conveyed to Toronto Mortuary
