Setting the Record Straight: Engr. Abubakar Momoh’s Commitment To Niger Delta Development
Press Statement:
***Exposing The Truth Behind Obaseki’s Attempt To Mislead And Undermine Progress In Niger Delta
The Ministry of Niger Delta Development wishes to address a recent sponsored post on an online news medium aimed at discrediting the remarkable progress made under the leadership of Hon. Abubakar Momoh, Minister of Niger Delta Development. This post, clearly fueled by individuals with political motives, is designed to mislead the public and undermine the hard work being done in the Niger Delta region.
It has come to our attention that the sponsored post insinuates that Hon. Momoh has been channeling resources to support political activities involving Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the upcoming Edo gubernatorial polls. These claims are not only baseless but also reflect a deliberate attempt to misrepresent the Minister’s dedication to his role.
Hon. Abubakar Momoh’s focus has been solely on advancing the development agenda for the Niger Delta, in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Any suggestion that he has diverted resources for political ends is entirely false and should be viewed as part of a coordinated effort to distract from the ministry’s achievements.
In a significant move to enhance power supply in Edo State, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) commissioned a N248 million injection substation in Amufi, Ikpoba Okha. This project, completed just three months ago, underscores our commitment to improving the quality of life for Edo residents.
Similarly, in Ondo State, the NDDC successfully commissioned the Ode Erinje Power Substation, which draws electricity from the Omotosho Power Plant. This facility now provides electricity to over 2,000 communities across five local government areas, marking a major step forward in regional development.
Recognizing the environmental challenges faced by communities in Edo State, the ministry has initiated crucial erosion control projects aimed at safeguarding lives and property. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to address the long-standing issues of environmental degradation in the region.
The ministry is currently overseeing numerous projects to improve health infrastructure across the Niger Delta, including Edo State. These initiatives aim to enhance access to quality healthcare for all residents, ensuring that no one is left behind. In addition to healthcare, the ministry is committed to upgrading educational facilities across the region. Ongoing projects in various schools are focused on creating conducive learning environments for our children, laying the foundation for a brighter future.
The ministry recently concluded its Batch Four empowerment program, providing participants with starter packs to help them embark on new careers and businesses. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to empowering the people of the Niger Delta and fostering economic growth. Furthermore, our free medical outreach programs have brought essential healthcare services to thousands of residents across Edo State, offering treatments and surgeries that have significantly improved the well-being of our people.
The claims made in the sponsored post that Hon. Momoh has been influenced by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to divert resources from the ministry are entirely baseless. These accusations appear to be the work of a former aide, now aligned with Governor Godwin Obaseki, and are designed to distract from the tangible progress being made under the Minister’s leadership.
Hon. Momoh has always operated with the utmost integrity and dedication, focused solely on the development of the Niger Delta. The attempt to link his work to political machinations is a disservice to the people of the Niger Delta and a distraction from the real issues at hand.
The public should be aware that these sponsored allegations are politically motivated and lack any factual basis. Hon. Abubakar Momoh remains committed to his mandate, working tirelessly to bring meaningful development to the Niger Delta region.
As the saying goes, it is only the tree that bears good fruit that attracts stones. We remain undeterred, knowing that our work speaks for itself.
Those sponsoring fictitious news will soon have a date with history, as the people of Edo are not fools. As the new godfather, Obaseki must be prepared to show Edo State how many erosion sites, roads, and schools he has built during his eight years in power. It’s time for ‘Operation Show Your Records.’
Someone who declared on television that he did not receive any rice, only to later admit he got some after the Honorable Minister of Niger Delta told Channels Television that he received 22 trunks like other governors, cannot be trusted to impose a surrogate on the state who has never even been involved in local council campaigns.
The Ministry of Niger Delta Development will continue to operate with transparency, integrity, and a focus on results, undeterred by attempts to derail our mission.
Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah is the Special Assistant to the Hon Minister of Niger Delta Development.
