Shaibu, who recently returned to office following a court ruling that voided his impeachment, claimed that Obaseki withheld his salary and allowances for 15 months as part of this alleged intimidation campaign. Shaibu shared these details during a conversation on Channels Television’s Politics Today, emphasizing how Obaseki’s actions began the moment he declared his political ambitions.
Obasanjo Laughs Off Allegations of Igbo Ancestry
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has finally addressed rumors surrounding his alleged Igbo roots, describing them as baseless and laughable. The speculation about Obasanjo’s heritage gained traction during the 2023 election season when he was accused of supporting Labour Party candidate Peter Obi due to shared ethnic ties. In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo dismissed these claims, making it clear that the allegations have no foundation.
Federal Government Criticizes Ogun State’s Agreement with Chinese Firm
The Federal Government has pointed fingers at the Ogun State government over an agreement with Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment, a Chinese company, which led to the controversial seizure of three presidential jets by a French court. The jets were seized as security for the Chinese firm’s claim of over EUR 74 million. The Federal Government has expressed concerns over the terms of the agreement, which resulted in this international dispute.
Sowore Alleges Government Staged Jet Seizure to Justify Tinubu’s New Aircraft
Political activist Omoyele Sowore has accused the Nigerian government of orchestrating the recent seizure of presidential jets as a ploy to justify the acquisition of a new jet by President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Sowore claims that the seizure, which stemmed from a dispute between Ogun State and a Chinese firm, was part of a larger scheme to elicit public sympathy for the new aircraft, which reportedly cost the government N150 billion.
