Secondus also expressed grave concerns about Nigeria’s democracy, warning that electoral rigging by the All Progressives Congress (APC) could destabilize the country’s political landscape.

In a separate statement issued on Tuesday, he expressed fears that the 2027 elections might not hold if the APC continues to sabotage democratic processes. Citing irregularities in the recent Edo State gubernatorial election, he accused the APC of disregarding electoral laws and disenfranchising voters to secure victory.

Secondus further criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, claiming that the 2023 general elections were deeply flawed and that INEC has shown no remorse for undermining democracy. He also raised concerns about the APC’s intent to turn Nigeria into a one-party state, referencing comments by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje about replicating the Edo election template in future elections.

He warned that if the election manipulation continues, future elections in Nigeria could be jeopardized, urging all to take notice of the dangerous precedent being set. “The world is watching the shame we bring to this beautiful form of government that other nations use to stabilize and develop their countries,” Secondus concluded.
