Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital Gains Continuity As Tinubu Renews Agboola’s Tenure

President Bola Tinubu has confirmed the reappointment of Dr. Afis Agboola as Provost and Medical Director of the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, for another four-year term. The hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Abiola Ajibola, announced the news to the media on Saturday. In a congratulatory message, the minister encouraged Dr. Agboola to build on his achievements from his first term and to continue fostering trust among staff and the public.

The statement read: “The reappointment of the Provost and Medical Director reflects his successful record during the initial four-year tenure. Dr. Alausa, while presenting the letter, urged him to work diligently to further enhance healthcare quality and to build on his previous successes.”

Previously, President Tinubu also reappointed Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha as the Director General of the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA) for a second five-year term. The reappointment letter, signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, acknowledged Prof. Mustapha’s notable achievements in his last term, with his new tenure beginning on October 31, 2024. Experts consider these reappointments a mark of the President’s confidence in both leaders to drive innovation in healthcare and biotechnology, positioning Nigeria for significant advancements in food security, pharmaceuticals, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
