Nnamdi Kanu Raises Concerns Over Unfair Judgments: My Cases Are Ruled By Dirty And Deadly Politics

The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed concerns about receiving unfair judgments from courts in Abuja…READ MORE…

As reported by ireporteronline News, this was revealed by Kanu’s Lead Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, who shared the message on social media after visiting Kanu at the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters in Abuja, where Kanu has been held since June 2021 following his extraordinary rendition from Kenya.

According to Ejimakor, Kanu expressed frustration over the handling of his legal cases, claiming they have been marred by political interference and a disregard for due process.

Kanu’s Frustrations
Kanu alleged that his cases are not decided based on the rule of law but are influenced by political agendas, particularly by those who benefit from the insecurity in the Southeast region.

Ejimakor wrote:

“He asked us to inform the public that he’s not expecting any favorable judgment from courts in Abuja because his cases are decided by dirty and deadly politics, not by the rule of law.

“The application of laws in his case does not align with Nigeria’s legal framework or relevant international laws.

“Those profiting from the insecurity in the Southeast are dictating adverse rulings because if justice were served, the orchestrated attacks and demonization of his person and mission would lose public appeal.”

Kanu urged the public to review court decisions and judgments concerning him and IPOB, asserting that the legal process has been manipulated to undermine justice. “He maintains that his trial is a sham designed to suppress truth and fairness,” Ejimakor added.

Judicial Recusals and Controversies
Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja High Court, who had previously presided over Kanu’s case, recused herself last year amidst protests from Kanu and his legal team. However, the case was later reassigned to her, sparking further concerns about the judicial process.

Kanu’s remarks highlight his ongoing concerns about political interference in his legal battles and his lack of faith in the judiciary to deliver impartial rulings.
