APC In Hot Water As Ozigbo Challenges Legitimacy OF Anambra Governorship Primary

Ozigbo is seeking to annul Ukachukwu’s nomination and force the party to recognize him as the legitimate candidate for the November 2025 governorship election. The controversial primary, held at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka, saw Ukachukwu emerge as the candidate with 1,455 votes, while Ozigbo secured just 67 votes. Johnbosco Onunkwo followed with 26 votes, and Edozie Madu earned eight votes, with 26 invalid votes cast.

In his legal challenge, Ozigbo, represented by Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) Umeh Kalu and B.C. Igwilo, questions the integrity of the entire primary process. He cites APC’s constitution, internal communications, and delegate registers, claiming they were misused during the election.

Ozigbo, in a statement titled “For a Future Worth Fighting For,” condemned the primary as a “well-scripted illusion.” He accused the party of using a fabricated delegate list that included names unfamiliar to seasoned party leaders, while true APC members were excluded. He also alleged that the primary was marred by violence, chaos, and the manipulation of hired individuals posing as delegates.

Ozigbo further stated, “When institutions falter, it is the duty of conscience to rise. I have taken that stand—not for self, but for truth, for justice, and for Ndi Anambra.”

Additionally, Ozigbo questioned Ukachukwu’s eligibility to run under the APC, claiming that Ukachukwu did not meet the necessary criteria outlined in the party’s constitution. He accused Ukachukwu of exploiting the party’s machinery for personal gain.

“The core issue is that Mr. Ukachukwu was never qualified to run under the APC in the first place. He failed to meet the minimum requirements.
