The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the election of Senator Monday Okpebholo as the duly elected Governor of Edo State, affirming that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) properly conducted the September 24, 2024 gubernatorial election.

  • The appeal, filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate Asue Ighodalo, was dismissed entirely.

  • Justice Mohammed Danjuma, who read the lead judgment, stated that the appellants failed to prove any miscarriage of justice in the earlier ruling by the Edo State Election Petition Tribunal.

  • The judgment was unanimous, delivered by a 3-man panel of justices.

The ruling effectively confirms Okpebholo’s legitimacy as governor, dealing a significant blow to the PDP’s challenge.
