Governor Praises Tinubu’s Role in Advancing Lagos Rail Infrastructure

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially commissioned and handed over three newly imported Blue Line train sets to the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), marking a key advancement in the state’s transportation infrastructure.

Speaking during an inspection at the Blue Line terminal in Iganmu, Governor Sanwo-Olu lauded President Bola Tinubu’s contributions, emphasizing the significance of federal-state collaboration in delivering transformational public transport projects. He described the Blue Line as a “major leap forward” in the state’s modernization drive.

The governor expressed confidence that the deployment of the trains will reduce traffic congestion and enhance travel times for millions of Lagosians. He assured that train fares will remain affordable, thanks to government subsidies, reaffirming his administration’s focus on inclusive and accessible public transport.

Sanwo-Olu stated, “We are determined to keep the Blue Line train service affordable for every Lagosian. This is not just about transportation—it’s about improving quality of life and driving economic efficiency.”

The newly delivered trains are expected to expand capacity and efficiency on the Blue Line corridor, further solidifying the state government’s commitment to a sustainable multi-modal transport system.

With the handover to LAMATA, the state expects seamless integration and operational scaling of the Blue Line rail system as part of broader efforts to reshape mobility in Nigeria’s most populous city.
