Ekiti PDP Tells Fayose to Exit Party Over Scathing Remarks

Tensions within the Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party escalated over the weekend, as the party’s Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dare Adeleke, called on former governor Ayodele Fayose to formally exit the party, following what he described as repeated acts of disloyalty and public condemnation of the PDP.

According to iReporter Online, Adeleke reacted strongly to Fayose’s recent remarks made during a television interview, in which the former governor expressed deep dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership, declaring that “the soul of the PDP is gone” and predicting that the party would place fourth in the next general elections.

Fayose, who maintained that he had “paid his dues” in the PDP, alleged that many influential members had left the party, leaving it as a “carcass.” He claimed that the leadership had compromised its integrity and pushed out critical figures, diminishing the party’s viability in several states.

In a swift rebuttal, Adeleke questioned Fayose’s continued membership in a party he has repeatedly maligned. He noted that local government chairmen across the state had jointly issued a statement distancing themselves from Fayose and condemning his conduct.

“Why does Fayose remain in a party he calls dead?” Adeleke queried. “The carcass he refers to has now rejected him. If this were a military institution, someone like him—who constantly leaks secrets and sabotages operations—would have been court-martialed.”

According to iReporter Online, Adeleke insisted that Fayose’s recent outbursts amounted to betrayal, stating that he was demanding recognition from the very institution he undermines. He also challenged the former governor’s influence, pointing out that no significant party stakeholder had followed him into any other political formation, despite his past threats to defect.

Adeleke expressed confidence that the PDP would regain control of the state in the June 20, 2026 governorship election, asserting that the party would emerge stronger once “bad elements” had exited. He described Fayose’s allies as politically irrelevant, insisting they would play no meaningful role in the coming electoral cycle.

“I assure him that PDP will win Ekiti State,” Adeleke said. “We are reorganizing with real party loyalists, not with ADC-bound backbenchers.”
