Philip Shaibu Backs President Tinubu for Second Term, Cites Economic Recovery and Youth Development

Former Deputy Governor of Edo State and current Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Sports (NIS), Philip Shaibu, has declared his support for President Bola Tinubu to serve a second term, saying the president deserves another four years to consolidate on ongoing reforms, according to iReporter Online.

Shaibu made the statement on Friday at the NIS headquarters in Lagos while addressing staff and sports stakeholders.

He said Tinubu’s administration inherited a struggling economy and is implementing necessary reforms to stabilise the nation and lay the groundwork for long-term growth.

Appointed as NIS Director-General in April 2025, Shaibu noted that his new role has given him deeper insight into the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and sports development.
