Dangote Refinery Sh*cks Market, Resumes Petrol Sales Exclusively In Naira

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has confirmed the resumption of petrol sales in naira after initially announcing a suspension. According to Ireporter Online, the refinery had on Friday issued a memo stating that sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in the local currency would stop from Sunday, September 28, 2025, citing the exhaustion of its crude-for-naira allocation as the reason.

In the earlier notice, the company explained that it had exceeded its allocated quota of crude supplied under the naira exchange arrangement, making it unsustainable to continue selling fuel in the Nigerian currency. The memo added that updates on the resumption of naira-based transactions would be communicated once the challenge was resolved.

However, in a follow-up memo issued on Saturday, the refinery announced that sales in naira had been restored. The reversal, the company said, came after the intervention of the Naira-for-Crude Technical Committee.

The new directive authorized customers to resume placing fuel orders in naira, with options for both self-collection and free delivery to designated locations nationwide. The refinery expressed appreciation to its partners and customers for their continued support.
