The Nigeria Police Force is currently investigating the unexplained disappearance of one of its official vehicles, a Toyota Buffalo Land Cruiser, from its national headquarters in Abuja. The vehicle, assigned to the Department of Operations at Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, was reported missing on July 28, 2025, after allegedly being removed from the official parking area.

According to Ireporter Online, the incident was first revealed through an internal wireless message issued by the Commissioner of Police overseeing the DFA, Katsina Command. The communication, which relayed information from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja, has been circulated to all police commands nationwide.

The alert identified the missing vehicle by its chassis number JTELU71JX0B027126 and registration number NPF 5594 D. It read in part:

“A police official’s vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser attached to the Department of Operations, FHQ Abuja, was declared missing/stolen or removed from its parking space on 28/07/2025 at Louis Edet House, Abuja. The case is under investigation. All formations, area commands, and divisions are advised to assist in its recovery and report relevant information for necessary action.”

Although the message initially referenced an accident, authorities clarified that the vehicle had, in fact, gone missing from its designated parking spot. Police formations across the country have been instructed to treat the matter with urgency and provide any information that could aid in recovering the SUV.
