Tinubu Govt Rolls Out ₦10bn Housing Loan For Civil Servants—Massive Relief Incoming

The Federal Government under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a ₦10 billion housing loan scheme designed to enhance access to home ownership for civil servants nationwide.

According to Ireporter Online, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, made the disclosure on Friday during a press briefing in Abuja, noting that the initiative will be implemented through the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board.

She explained that the programme is aimed at boosting worker morale, stability, and productivity, stressing that home ownership plays a critical role in shaping the mindset and efficiency of public servants. She noted that when workers are assured of a place they can call their own, they are more focused, purposeful, and committed to their duties.

The Head of Service further described the scheme as part of a broader governance philosophy of the current administration, emphasizing that it goes beyond a welfare package to reflect a strategic commitment to strengthening the civil service. She stated that a well-supported workforce is fundamental to delivering effective governance and building a stronger nation.

In addition, she highlighted ongoing reforms targeted at modernising the public service, including efforts to establish a digital, paperless, and more transparent system driven by innovation and accountability. She reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring that civil servants are better equipped with the skills, tools, and institutional support necessary for professional growth and improved performance.

Walson-Jack attributed recent achievements within the civil service to sustained collaboration among key government institutions, including the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Budget Office of the Federation, and the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation. She emphasized that inter-agency cooperation remains essential to achieving national development goals and urged ministries, departments, and agencies to maintain a unified approach in policy implementation and service delivery.

Looking ahead, she noted that the upcoming Workers’ Day would hold special significance this year, as civil servants can now point to tangible evidence of government recognition and support. She described the occasion as an opportunity not only to reflect on past struggles but also to renew commitments toward fairness, justice, and appreciation for public servants.
