Kiekie Opens Up: Why I Lived With My Husband Before Marriage

Nollywood actress and content creator Oluwabukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, popularly known as Kiekie, has shed light on her decision to live with her husband prior to their wedding, offering insight into the circumstances that informed the move.

According to a media report, the actress made the disclosure during a conversation with media personality Toke Makinwa, where she clarified that their cohabitation occurred after they had completed their traditional marriage rites and were already making preparations for their white wedding ceremony. She explained that the decision was largely influenced by practicality, noting that her rent had expired at the time and renewing it would have been unnecessary given the proximity of their wedding date.

Kiekie stated that she and her husband lived together for approximately four months before formalising their union, emphasizing that the choice, though potentially subject to public scrutiny, was financially sensible. She added that while their traditional introduction had already taken place, the arrangement was not disclosed to their church at the time, even as she remained actively involved in church activities.

In a related development, the entertainer also addressed how she manages the intersection of her personal life and professional brand. Speaking at a public event, she revealed that she has deliberately established firm boundaries between her private life and her public persona. She explained that her husband, Tunji Ilori, does not feature in her content because his personality does not align with her comedic style.

She further noted that while her daughter, Nola, occasionally appears in her social media content due to her natural on-camera presence, such appearances are carefully controlled and limited to periods when the child is on school break.

Kiekie stressed the importance of maintaining discipline in content creation, warning against excessive exposure of personal lives for online engagement. She cautioned that the tendency to overextend viral moments often leads to oversharing, which can diminish audience appeal and blur the line between authenticity and overexposure.
