Fans Go Wild After Rema, Ayra Starr Share Kiss During Performance
Nigerian Afrobeats sensations Rema and Ayra Starr have once again ignited dating speculations after sharing a brief kiss on stage at the Global Citizen Festival in New York over the weekend. According to reports, the development comes shortly after Ayra Starr dismissed rumors of being romantically involved with Rema, insisting that he was only her “brother in Christ.”
In the viral video making waves online, the pair appeared to flirt and blush as they performed Rema’s global hit “Calm Down” with Selena Gomez and his track “Baby.” Their unexpected kiss drew loud cheers and excitement from the crowd, fueling renewed speculation about their relationship. The duo, however, has yet to comment on the fresh rumors.
Meanwhile, renowned music executive Don Jazzy has shed light on how Ayra Starr was discovered and signed to his label, Mavin Records. Speaking during an interview on the Echo Room podcast, he explained that he had been searching for a teenage Afrobeats star to fill a gap in the industry.
Don Jazzy revealed that he enlisted the help of scouts to identify promising young talents from universities, and Ayra Starr’s Instagram page was one of those forwarded to him. He noted that her freestyle on drug abuse, a theme he described as timely and relevant to Gen Z, immediately caught his attention. The performance, he added, convinced him that she was the unique talent he had been searching for, leading to her signing with Mavin Records.
