A Catholic priest, Fr. Kelvin Ugwu, has sparked widespread reactions after criticizing the marriage between Nigerian billionaire politician Ned Nwoko and popular actress Regina Daniels, describing their union as one built on greed rather than genuine love.

According to Ireporter Online, the outspoken cleric shared his views via a social media post, asserting that both individuals entered into the relationship for selfish reasons — Ned for purity and Regina for wealth. He argued that neither party has the moral standing to complain about any challenges in their marriage, as they are merely “reaping the fruits of their greed.”

Fr. Ugwu alleged that Nwoko’s obsession with marrying a virgin and Regina’s open preference for luxury and financial comfort were the foundations of their relationship. He referenced past interviews and videos where the couple expressed these values, emphasizing that what united them was not love or companionship, but mutual benefit.

He explained that the relationship between the older politician and his younger actress wife was more of a transaction than a sacred union, claiming both parties got exactly what they wanted — Ned, the virginity he prized; and Regina, the wealth she desired.

In his post, the priest humorously compared their union to a Bluetooth pairing, saying they “paired, transfers were made, and results were visible.” He added that while Ned proudly flaunted his children and Regina showed off her luxurious lifestyle, both now face the consequences of defining a transaction as a marriage.

Fr. Ugwu concluded that what the couple shares may appear to be a marriage on the surface, but in reality, it is far from it. “They used the word ‘marriage’ wrongly,” he said, adding that if marriage were a person, “it would have sued them for abuse.”
