Sh*ck At APC Convention: Aminu Masari Reveals Why Some Aspirants Were Blocked

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Convention Central Coordination Committee, Aminu Masari, has defended the party’s decision to deny the sale of nomination forms to certain aspirants, insisting the move was necessary to maintain order within the ruling party.

According to Ireporter Online, Masari made the clarification on Thursday in Abuja during a world media briefing held ahead of the party’s 8th National Convention scheduled for March 27 to March 28, 2026. He dismissed complaints from aggrieved members, alleging that those protesting the decision may be acting as agents seeking to create instability within the party.

Masari explained that the party strictly adheres to a zoning arrangement rooted in the federal character principle, noting that positions within the party are allocated across different regions to ensure balance. He stated that only aspirants contesting positions designated to their respective zones were allowed to purchase nomination forms, stressing that attempts by individuals to contest outside their zones raised suspicions.

He argued that such actions could lead to confusion and undermine the party’s structure, emphasizing that the APC remains committed to maintaining discipline and order. The former Katsina State governor further maintained that aspirants seeking positions outside their designated zones could not claim unfair treatment, as the zoning framework is clearly established.

Masari also disclosed that the party was not aware of any legal action filed over the matter, adding that it had not been served with any court processes. He assured that the party would respond appropriately if such issues arise through official channels.

The briefing was attended by several top government officials and party leaders, including the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo; Vice Chairman of the Central Committee, Pius Ayim; Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare; and Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, among other dignitaries.
