Top-Level Talks: Tinubu Meets Ganduje, Badaru In Private Session

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday held separate closed-door meetings with former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, and former Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The engagements, conducted privately, have generated significant political interest, as neither of the visitors disclosed the purpose of their meetings with the President as of the time of reporting. According to Ireporter Online, both Ganduje and Badaru declined to address State House correspondents after their separate sessions, leaving the agenda of the discussions open to speculation, while presidential aides also refrained from offering any details.

The meetings come amid growing security concerns in Nigeria’s North-East, particularly in Borno State, where insurgents have reportedly intensified attacks on military formations, drawing nationwide attention and renewed calls from stakeholders for more effective strategies to tackle the crisis. The development also coincides with shifting political dynamics in Kano State following the reported defection of former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the African Democratic Congress, a move that has triggered fresh realignments within the state’s political landscape. Observers suggest Ganduje’s visit may be linked to high-level consultations on navigating emerging opposition forces ahead of future elections. Ganduje, who served as APC National Chairman from August 2023 until his resignation in July 2025, continues to wield considerable influence within the party, particularly in Kano politics.
