First Lady, Governors’ Wives Pledge Continued Support To Empower Vulnerable Nigerians
According to Ireporter Online, the First Lady of Nigeria and National Chairperson of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Social Investment Programme, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed the commitment of governors’ wives to continue supporting and empowering vulnerable Nigerians across the country, regardless of social or economic status.
She made this known at the official launch and distribution of food items to vulnerable groups held in Zamfara State. The event, which took place at the Trade Fair Complex in Gusau, attracted prominent stakeholders and dignitaries from various parts of the country.
Represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, Senator Tinubu emphasized that the initiative is designed to complement the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in improving the livelihoods of Nigerians and ensuring citizens are supported to achieve their full potential.
She further disclosed plans to extend the programme to Rivers State, noting that subsequent phases of the Renewed Hope Initiative will continue to expand its reach nationwide. According to her, a newly introduced National Community Food Bags programme was also launched in Borno State in collaboration with relevant partners, including the state Ministry of Social Development and Welfare, the Bank of Agriculture, and the National Primary Healthcare system.
Senator Tinubu explained that the broader goal of the initiative is to empower women economically and socially while also providing critical support for children and other vulnerable groups, with a strong focus on nutrition and child development.
She highlighted that the sustainability of the programme is anchored on monthly contributions from key donors, including the Chief Executive Officer of BUA Group, Alhaji Abdussamad Rabi’u, alongside another anonymous benefactor.
In her remarks, the Zamfara State First Lady and RHI State Coordinator, Hajiya Hurriya Dauda Lawal, described the programme as a remarkable intervention that reflects compassion, unity, and a shared commitment to improving the welfare of vulnerable populations. She expressed appreciation to Senator Tinubu and other stakeholders for bringing relief and hope to families across the country.
Governor Dauda Lawal also commended the First Lady for selecting Zamfara as a beneficiary of the initiative, describing the gesture as historic and deeply appreciated by the state.
