Peller Declares: ₦100m Savings Untouchable — Even In Family Emergencies

Nigerian content creator and streamer, Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has sparked widespread reactions online following his firm declaration that his ₦100 million savings remain strictly untouched, even in the event of urgent family emergencies.

According to Ireporter Online, the statement surfaced in a trending video featuring media personality Peller alongside skit maker Sir Balo, and has since generated intense debate across social media platforms over financial discipline and family responsibility.

In the viral clip, Peller explained his strict personal money management principle, stating that he maintains a financial threshold he refuses to go below under any circumstance.

“I don’t ever allow myself to be broke below ₦100 million. Even if anybody wants to die in the family, I won’t touch it. I always make sure my money never drops below ₦100 million,” he said.

He further revealed that in moments of financial strain, he prefers to take on quick income opportunities such as music promotion deals worth around ₦3 million, rather than dip into his reserved savings.

“There are times I’ll need urgent money when I’m broke and I’ll just take music promotion and ask for like ₦3 million just to do it. But that saved 100 million, I won’t touch it, because once you start, you’ll continue spending,” he added.

The comment has since divided opinion online. While some social media users praised his financial discipline and long-term planning approach, others criticised the stance as overly rigid, arguing that it disregards the cultural and moral expectations of supporting family members during emergencies.

In Nigeria, where extended family obligations often place financial responsibility on individuals for medical, educational, and urgent needs, Peller’s position has reignited conversations about personal boundaries versus collective responsibility.
