Ex-NPHCDA Boss Shuaib Withdraws From Nasarawa Governorship Race

According to Ireporter Online, former Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib, has withdrawn from the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship race and declared his support for Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada.

Shuaib announced his decision in Lafia after a series of consultations with his supporters and prominent stakeholders across the state. He explained that his withdrawal followed extensive deliberations and was guided by his commitment to honour an earlier promise to align with the choice of Governor Abdullahi Sule.

He noted that although stepping down was a difficult decision, he chose to prioritize loyalty over personal ambition. According to him, aspirants from the western senatorial district had previously agreed to either present a single consensus candidate or accept the governor’s decision if consensus proved unattainable. He said the inability to reach an agreement among the aspirants led to the adoption of the governor’s preferred candidate.

Shuaib acknowledged that the outcome may not have been favourable to all parties involved but maintained that he remained committed to the earlier understanding. He emphasized that keeping faith with agreements was more important than pursuing individual political aspirations.

He also expressed appreciation for the dedication of his supporters, describing the period leading to his withdrawal as one of the most challenging phases of his political journey. He urged them to remain united and fully support the party’s chosen candidate ahead of the election.

Shuaib further pledged his readiness to work with Senator Wadada and called for unity within the party as preparations intensify for the polls. He added that his withdrawal from the race does not signal an exit from public service, stressing his continued commitment to the development of Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large.
