PRP Slams ADC Takeover Rumour, Declares “Party Not For Sale

According to Ireporter Online, the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) has firmly dismissed reports suggesting an alleged attempt by individuals linked to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to take over its leadership structure, insisting that the party remains “not for sale” and cannot be hijacked or influenced by external interests.

Speaking in Kano on Monday, the chairman of PRP Vanguard, Abdulmajid Yakubu Dauda, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to its founding principles, stressing that it would not be reduced to a platform for personal ambition or financial manipulation. He cautioned against any attempts to infiltrate the party, warning that the PRP is not open to covert arrangements or political acquisition.

Dauda accused a group allegedly based in Kaduna, whom he said were not original members of the PRP, of attempting to assume control of the party’s structure. He further alleged that the group had been presenting themselves as leaders while recruiting members from other political parties facing internal challenges, including the ADC, without following due process.

He also described the so-called “Kaduna Mafia” as a faction of elite politicians who, according to him, do not embody the ideological values of the PRP, which he said has always prioritized the interests of ordinary Nigerians over elite political bargaining.

The PRP Vanguard chairman noted that the party’s internal dispute remains before a court of law and dismissed any notion of reconciliation ahead of the 2027 general elections, questioning the basis of unity discussions that ignore the party’s constitution and established structures.

He maintained that the PRP was founded on the struggles of workers, intellectuals, and the masses, adding that it was never intended to serve the interests of political opportunists or wealthy power brokers.

Dauda further argued that surrendering the party to individuals he described as career politicians would betray its founding ideals, alleging that the group in question lacks genuine grassroots presence and only becomes active during election periods in search of political sponsorship.
