According to Ireporter Online, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs following the resignation of Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, who reportedly stepped down to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who previously served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, now assumes full leadership of the ministry.

In a related move, President Tinubu has nominated Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as the new Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, pending confirmation by the Senate. Enikanolaiye, an indigene of Kogi State, previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.

The Presidency stated that the appointments are part of broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s foreign policy framework, enhance strategic international engagement, and deepen global partnerships.

President Tinubu congratulated the appointees and urged them to remain committed to promoting national interests, advancing economic diplomacy, strengthening regional stability, and ensuring the welfare of Nigerians both at home and abroad.
