According to Ireporter Online, Senator representing Anambra Central, Victor Umeh, has stated that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is repeating what he described as the strategic missteps that contributed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) losing the 2023 general election.

The lawmaker made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s “Politics Today,” where he also explained the rationale behind the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) zoning its presidential ticket to the southern region of the country.

Umeh noted that the NDC’s decision was guided by what he called political balance and fairness, stressing that the remaining four years of the eight-year southern presidency cycle should be respected. He added that such considerations were essential for political success and national stability.

He further argued that the ADC’s inability to adopt a zoning arrangement reflected the same internal challenge that affected the PDP in 2023. According to him, ignoring zoning dynamics could prove politically costly, especially in a system where power rotation is considered significant.

The senator maintained that the southern region remains entitled to complete its two-term tenure of eight years, emphasizing that political actors must be sensitive to equity and regional balance when making electoral decisions.
