Wike-Backed PDP Rejects APM Coalition, Accuses Makinde Of Deception

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, clarified that the party was not involved in any political gathering linked to the APM in Oyo State, insisting that the PDP remains unaffiliated with the said event in Ibadan.

He stressed that the party has not authorized, endorsed, or participated in any coalition, agreement, or collaboration with the APM or any other political group, warning that individuals making such claims were acting without the party’s consent.

Mohammed further alleged that the narrative of a PDP-APM alliance was being falsely promoted, describing it as an attempt to create political confusion and mislead the public. He accused Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of using the alleged alliance story to project political relevance, while insisting that such claims were deceptive and unfounded.

He maintained that the Ibadan gathering being referenced was not a political merger but a personal political activity, adding that recent developments suggested Makinde’s movement toward the APM, which he said was being disguised as a broader consultation.

The PDP spokesperson also criticized what he described as ongoing attempts to misrepresent court judgments and sow internal division within the party, stressing that such efforts had failed due to resistance from party members.

He pointed to the large number of aspirants who recently obtained nomination forms at the party headquarters as evidence of confidence in the PDP’s current leadership structure.

Mohammed questioned why those allegedly aligned with Makinde would seek nomination forms under a different factional arrangement if they were not distancing themselves from the mainstream party structure, arguing that such actions exposed contradictions in their political stance.

He maintained that the PDP would not be drawn into internal disputes or media controversies, adding that the party remains focused on unity, stability, and preparations for the 2027 general elections.

He reaffirmed that the PDP remains strong and fully positioned to contest future elections without internal or legal setbacks, insisting that political propaganda would not alter the party’s legitimacy or direction.
