2027: Lagos APC Unveils Deputy Governorship Candidate

According to Ireporter Online, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reportedly chosen Princess Damilola Sonayon-James as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election. The development comes as the ruling party intensifies early preparations ahead of the next electoral cycle in the state.

Reports indicate that Sonayon-James is expected to run alongside the party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, as the APC positions itself for another major political contest in Lagos.

Hailing from Badagry, Sonayon-James is well regarded within party circles for her active involvement in grassroots mobilization and her advocacy for increased female participation in governance and leadership. She currently serves as the Deputy State Chairman of the APC in Lagos State and previously held the position of State Assistant Woman Leader, where she played key roles in party organization across the state.

Her political background also includes public service at the local government level, where she served as Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture and Social Services in Badagry West Local Council Development Area, contributing to community development initiatives.

Beyond politics, she has built a career spanning business and sustainability management, with experience in human resources, logistics, and corporate sustainability. She is also the Chief Executive Officer of DGS Chauffeurs and Logistics.

Academically, she holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology and a degree in Business and Human Resources Management from the University of Hull. An official confirmation from the party is expected in the coming days.
