Umahi Challenges Peter Obi’s Record, Tells Obidients: ‘You Have No Right To Insult Me

According to Ireporter Online, Umahi made the remarks on Thursday during the flag-off ceremony for the second phase of the Babban-Lamba–Sharam Road project in Plateau State, where he defended his public service record and responded to criticisms from Obi’s supporters.

The minister stated that he had served in several leadership positions, including as party chairman, deputy governor, governor, senator and minister, and urged critics to evaluate both his achievements and Obi’s tenure as governor before passing judgment.

Umahi maintained that while he welcomes constructive criticism, no one has the right to insult him. He added that he would continue to defend himself whenever he believes unfair attacks are directed at his person or the administration he serves.

The remarks come a day after the minister accused Obi of repeatedly questioning his integrity and misunderstanding the realities of governance during the inauguration of the Akwanga–Jos Superhighway project.

Umahi criticised Obi for allegedly highlighting only the deteriorated sections of a federal road on social media, describing the move as an attempt to score political points rather than present a balanced assessment of ongoing infrastructure development.

He argued that governance should not be reduced to political theatrics and challenged the former presidential candidate to a public debate on infrastructure, stating that he is prepared to explain the cost structure and technical details of major road projects undertaken by the Federal Government.
