The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revealed that he advised Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to personally present his Certificate of Return to President Bola Tinubu after winning the state governorship election.

Wike disclosed this on Wednesday during a media parley with selected journalists in Rivers State, saying he also advised Adeleke to issue a public statement appreciating the President following the outcome of the election.

Adeleke emerged victorious in the Osun State governorship election after securing 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.

Following his victory, Adeleke received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and subsequently presented it to Tinubu while expressing appreciation to the President.

Wike said he had advised the Osun governor to take the step after the election and publicly acknowledge Tinubu.

He said, “I told Adeleke to call Mr President and go and present his Certificate of Return to him. I also told him to make a press statement thanking Mr President after the Osun election.”

Meanwhile, Adeleke has maintained that his pledge to deliver Osun State votes to Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election is genuine.

The governor made the declaration on Sunday while receiving the APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, who paid him a visit.

Adeleke, who described Tinubu as his “dear father,” said he was committed to the President and would work to fulfil his promise of delivering the state’s votes to him in the forthcoming election.

“I don’t make empty promises. When I said we will deliver Osun State votes to our dear father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I mean it 100 per cent,” Adeleke said.

The governor also stressed the importance of integrity in politics, saying people in the state should be prepared to work together despite their political differences.
