The management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has directed students in all categories to resume on Monday, September 26.

According to the academic calendar attached to the statement, registration for the second semester will commence on Wednesday, October 28, while lectures will commence on October 3, 2022.

Reacting, the university chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Samuel Alu, said the strike had not been suspended and the lecturers will not resume.

He, however, revealed that the congress resolved to request a waiver from the national headquarters of the union to suspend the seven-month strike due to the state government’s commitment and the intervention of various stakeholders, including the state assembly and traditional rulers.

“We appreciate the efforts of the state governor and the intervention of the members of the house of assembly and traditional rulers, but this is a nationwide strike. We can’t just call it off.

“But we had our Congress meeting today, and I presented the request of the various stakeholders to the House, which they declined.

“However, we resolved to write to the national headquarters and request for a waiver to suspend the strike. Until the waiver is granted, the strike is still on,” Mr Alu added.
