leadership to take charge. Nwafor also criticized Atiku for allegedly attempting to form an alliance with Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, ahead of the next general elections.

During a press briefing held yesterday in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, Nwafor emphasized the need for the PDP to focus on fresh faces and fresh ideas, proposing that the party should allocate its 2027 presidential ticket to the southern region of Nigeria. He noted that Atiku’s bid in the 2023 election, where he failed to secure victory, should serve as a lesson.

Nwafor expressed bewilderment at the rumors surrounding Atiku’s presidential ambitions for 2027, especially after southern party members in the PDP had earlier urged him to step aside in favor of a southern candidate, promoting fairness and equity within the party.

He firmly stated: “Atiku should put the idea of running for president in 2027 to rest and instead support a southerner. The time has come for the PDP to embrace new leadership rather than revisiting old alliances that failed in 2023.”

Nwafor’s message called for fresh leadership within the PDP, stressing that the party’s future success lies in empowering new, dynamic leaders to take the helm, especially with the 2027 elections on the horizon.
