2027: Wike Vows To Give Peter Obi, Atiku ‘High BP’ With More Political Crises
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has vowed to intensify political pressure on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
According to IREPORTERONLINE, Wike made the statement on Friday in Abuja while speaking with journalists during an inspection of infrastructure projects in the Federal Capital Territory.
The former Rivers State governor said he was not interested in making his political opponents comfortable, adding that his objective was to make the contest more difficult for them ahead of the next general election.
Wike also dismissed the idea that Nigeria currently has a dominant opposition party, arguing that internal crises have weakened the major opposition parties.
He said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which would ordinarily have been regarded as the leading opposition party, had been affected by prolonged internal disagreements.
Wike said, “I have told you, when you say we are leading the opposition, I have told you there is no opposition. What do you have? People who are just looking to see if they can stay relevant.
“Who is the opposition leader now? Obviously, it would have been PDP, but because of the crisis we have gone through, you can’t see a strong party that you would call the leading opposition party.”
The FCT Minister maintained that he was unconcerned about how Atiku or Obi perceived the unfolding political developments, insisting that his focus was on winning the political contest.
He added that he intended to make the opposition’s path to the 2027 election even more difficult.
Wike said, “I don’t care; whatever they feel is not my business. I don’t want them to feel well. My job is to make them feel unwell all day because they will have high blood pressure.
“I am not here to make them feel well. You see, when you are having a contest with somebody, your business is not to make him feel well. Your business is to make sure that you beat him thoroughly.”
He further declared that he would continue to exploit divisions within the opposition, stating that the personal feelings of Atiku and Obi would not influence his political strategy.
Wike said, “I’m going to make things even harder for them. And that is what we are doing to them. So, how Atiku feels, how Obi feels, does not give me a
