The daring abduction, which sent shockwaves through the state, saw Prof. Emezue whisked away from a filling station in Umuahia, the bustling state capital, as confirmed by the State Police Command over two weeks ago.

Reports from PUNCH reveal that the esteemed professor was liberated on Tuesday night, marking the end of a harrowing chapter. However, the scars of his captivity linger, prompting immediate medical attention to address the injuries inflicted during his time in captivity.

An insider privy to the professor’s plight disclosed that the kidnappers initially demanded a hefty ransom of N35 million for his release. Moreover, chilling footage depicting the professor’s torment surfaced, with threats of dire consequences unless a ransom of N20 million was paid promptly.

In a separate development, a 25-year-old housemaid found herself in legal crosshairs as she faced charges of pilfering N130,000 from her employer in Yola. The Jimeta Area Court bore witness to the proceedings as Naomi Tunba, the accused, maintained her innocence against the accusation of theft by a servant.

According to Sgt. Esther Emmanuel, the Police Prosecutor, Tunba, who had fostered a bond of trust with her employer over three years of service, allegedly absconded with the complainant’s handbag and Zenith Bank ATM card on January 25.

The prosecution revealed a subsequent debit alert of N130,000 on the complainant’s phone days after Tunba’s disappearance, painting a damning picture of the accused’s involvement.

Despite Tunba’s denial, the court was left to unravel the mystery of the missing funds and the housemaid’s enigmatic vanishing act, leaving a tale of intrigue and suspicion in its wake.
